Join the over 1,000 Midwest dentists who complete the DPA Fee & Wage survey, and see how your fees & wages stack up to your colleagues’.

The DPA Annual Wage and Benefit Survey can give you the information you need to understand current wage levels in your region – so you can make informed decisions about compensation. We’ll help you understand external wage differentiation (how your pay compares to other dental practices) and well as internal wage differentiation (how to align compensation within your practice so it adequately reflects skill level, performance, and overall contribution to practice goals).

Download the PDF file here, and return your survey by October 7, 2011, to: Dental Practice Advisors, LLC, P.O. Box 5250, De Pere, WI 54115 Or: Fax toll free to 866-833-2990

Once again, Shawn and I took advantage of one of the great resources we have here in the Midwest – the “Chicago Midwinter”. While we’ve attended in years past, this year we were much better prepared in terms of what we wanted to see and do while we were there. The meeting has to be one of the best values around for dentists and those who support dentistry – and all within driving distance of Chicago!

Over the years our DPA crew has made it a point to see as many practice management “gurus” as possible, including Pride, Hufford, Levin, Blatchford, Blair, Farran, Reed, Jameson, Dental Boot Kamp, Hyman and many others. Each one of these experiences has helped shape who we are and the services we provide our clients. This year was no different. We had the pleasure to see Virginia Moore & Debbie Castagna, Susan Gunn, Peter Ackerman, and Lois Banta.

Banta packed her “From The Ground Up” seminar chock full of the basic “blocking and tackling” that all practices need to be successful. Moore & Castagna’s “Plan Your Way to Success and Profitability” emphasized the significance of annual planning with established goals and overhead expense management to achieve profitability. Gunn’s “QuickBooks® Practice Essentials” underscored the importance of truly using QuickBooks® as a monthly management and internal control tool, taking it beyond the traditional tax preparer’s domain. Ackerman, in “Practice Transitions That Work”, did much more than simply address the mechanics of transitions – he did a great job of crystalizing the importance of operating a good business to put you in the best position to maximize your practice value and achieve your lifetime goals.

Of course, the wide array of courses provides a multitude of opportunities to suit any interest or need. Perhaps even more important than the courses is the idea generation that comes from swapping stories with doctors or other experts you’ve never met and having your team hunt down better ways to do things!

Shawn and I established several new relationships in Chicago this year. More on that next time.
