History

Dental Practice Advisors (DPA) had its origins in the mid 1990s. What began as a dental laboratory responding to customer needs with creative solutions has evolved into a practice support firm that has served hundreds of dentists with a wide array of unique, dental-specific services.

Prior to the formal establishment of our firm, we observed a huge gap in service to dental offices. They did not have local financial support that really understood dentistry. On one end of the spectrum there are compliance-focused accounting firms who may have many dental clients but in reality know very little about the economics of the dental office. On the other end of the spectrum there are large practice management consulting firms that are very helpful at developing leadership and communication skills, but that fail to integrate them with the entire financial performance picture of the dental office. Neither is in an ideal position to most effectively guide the dentist.

With that in mind, our team began working with dentists to develop an array of dental-specific services that tied it all together – leadership, business systems and processes, and practice economics. Between 1998 and 2000, the DPA team sought out and attended practice management seminars presented by well-respected organizations. Those research and development efforts culminated in the 2001 formation of Dental Practice Advisors, LLC. After a successful yearlong pilot program that included twelve dentists in eight offices, DPA formally launched its practice. The rest, as they say, is history.
